The Pups Go Adventuring and Plans for Today

Our rental here in Maine is located at the end of a dirt road that's perhaps a mile long. This gives the dogs the chance to wander around outside with no fear of cars. When it isn't raining, it's been great to wander out with them between house and water, to give them time to root around. Being small, a little space goes a long way for them.

We're supposed to have a short, light rain in the late morning followed by clearing and partly sunny for the afternoon. We're all looking forward to a chance to get out and relax on the dock and get in a bit of a swim. (Well, Skip won't be swimming today; since it's a weekend, the public landing will be too busy.)

One of our friends is preparing a fresh guacamole now, for a taco dinner this evening. It has filled the main living area with the most wonderful smell of fresh onions, garlic and the like. Yum!

Hi Cranky! I hope you can get some good weather today for that swim! The dogs are so cute, I'll bet they spent hours just sniffing around, lol! MMM, tacos sound like a good idea for my dinner tonight!!

Rain - I did get a swim in, tho it was a bit cool. The pups are loving it here, good smells to sniff out. The tacos were great here, hope yours were too!

The weather is supposed to be great this next week...glad you are staying with nice people who can help out with Skip...the food sounds great too! Rural Maine in a w/c isn't for the lightweights!

Does anything smell as good as fresh food being prepared? Hm, Maine, I bet the water was a bit more than cool.

Harkoo - we are a bit heartened by the weather report for next week. Might even get into the 80s. We are lucky to have help, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to manage this vacation.

Diane - yep - all good!

Andy - definitely smelled great. Tonight, I am the chef. They've all had their shots, though! The water was a bit cool, but it is fresh water, not the ocean, where it would be (IMO) positively glacial.

This time the pictures made me think of vampires and shape shifters. I really need to stop watching "True Blood" before reading blogs.

I've got my fingers crossed for good Skip launching weather this week.

Hi Cranky!

Just wanted to let you know that I have my new blog up and running, and you are very welcome to drop by!

Steve - I agree - best not to read blogs after True Blood! We found out yesterday that Skip won't be able to go in swimming at the boat landing - big sign says "No Swimming." So no swimming for her, I'm afraid. She's sorely disappointed.

Rain - Glad to hear you've got another blog going! I'll have to check it out.

Hi...it is Tuesday evening...I hope you ladies aren't staying in western Maine where they have had severe weather...hope you still have your power and are enjoying yourselves! Hot/humid day in Maine...

Harkoo - we are in Eastern ME - near Damariscotta so haven't had any severe weather. Yesterday was a gorgeous day, best of vacation to date. Today is hot and humid. We intend to spend it by the water with lots of cooling strategies for Skip. Thanks for thinking of us!
